I cook a lot and one thing that came up since recently moving out was that my kitchen knives started to become dull.  I asked around and after trying some ultimately unsatisfactory products, I discovered tool that could make all the difference: The AccuSharp Knife Sharpener.

Does this Sharpener Really Work?

My guess is that most sharpeners already really work, but how effective are they.  Sharpening times range from 30 minutes down and from having to hold firmly or the knife would to sharpened wrong to having a hands free option for many of the electric sharpeners.

The AccuSharp Sharpener has blades made of tungsten carbide.  To give you an idea of what this material compares to others, it’s heavily used in drilling, and as materials for cutting tools.  The U.S.

Military uses it for armor piercing ammunition and it’s also made as jewelry.  It’s 4 times harder than titanium, and twice as hard as steel.  This material will quickly sharpen any knife you have.

Sharpening Time

Most sharpeners need some time to sharpen knives, but the AccuSharp only needs about 20 seconds for the first sharpening to conform the blade edge to the sharpeners v-notch.  After that, 2 swipes gives you a sharp blade.  Time taken: less than 5 seconds.

Sharpening process

Just by resting the blade on its back edge, the sharpener’s v edge is placed gently on the knife blade and you pull the sharpener across your knife with light pressure.  That’s it.  The sharpener comes with a hand guard so you have some protection from your blade.

Manual Versus Electric

There are both pros and cons of both.  My preference is manual as it is typically much quicker and I can take the sharpener with me if I go fishing or hunting.  If you like electric sharpeners they do run a bit higher and usually require some kitchen top space.  It’s really your preference.  The AccuSharp Knife Sharpener is a manual Sharpener.

Pricing

Sharpeners run from around -0 range.  The more expensive being the 3 process electric sharpeners that are about the size of a toaster.  In terms of pricing, if you’re relatively frugal the AccuSharp Sharpener is less than from Amazon.  The nearest comparable manual sharpener is and it’s the Furi Ozitech Diamond Fingers Knife Sharpener.

Longevity

The average warranty of the sharpeners, especially the electric are from 1-2 years.  From average customer reviews, the AccuSharp Knife Sharpener lasts about 5-10 years between needing replacement blades at a cost of .  You can switch the blades you currently have around as well to double the life of the sharpener.

Don’t forget to wash your knives after sharpening.  The sharpening blades will wear down your knife blade and particles or metal “dust” from your knife will be ingested and then you’ll probably need to go to hospital right away or have to deal with long term health defects.

Conclusion

I highly recommend the AccuSharp Knife Sharpener  because of its

Versatility, it can be taken everywhere,
Sharpens both straight and serrated edges.
Quickness at sharpening, seconds.
Longevity 5-10 years average and
Costs, being less than .

No other sharpener that I know of does this well in all these areas with an added bonus of having Amazon’s secure shipping, return and refund backing it’s the easily the sharpener that stands out the most.  With over 500 customer reviews with an average of 4.5 Stars, I believe most people will be well satisfied.
