I am travelling around the world on a motorcycle in support of the charity Motorcycle Outreach and sustainable healthcare and started the Fuel and Maintenance Fund to help cover fuel, tyres and general maintenance expenses in the endeavour to make a difference. Hard to believe is it not, once you look at the averages and start calculating?
Estimated Averages over 360 000 kilometres
Number of days 1825
Distance per Day 197 kilometres
Total hours in the saddle at 70 km per h 5140 Hours
Total Fuel in litres 22 500 Litres at average 16 km per l
Tanks of Fuel 682 at 33 l per tank
Motorcycle Service every 10 000 km’s 36 Services
Tyres at average of 18000 km/set 20 Sets (Front and Rear)
Times around the Earth at the Equator 8.98
Average distance to the Moon 382 500 kilometres
(Perigee – when the Moon is closest to Earth, 360 000 kilometres)
The reason for this journey is to create global awareness and raise funds in support of the charity Motorcycle Outreach which delivers Medical Aid by motorcycle to poor people in remote areas of developing countries.
While this is a daunting task on its own sponsors and monetary assistance to realize the goals is to all intents and purposes non existent and with the current worldwide recession there is no company or organization prepared to make any financial or sponsorship commitments to assist in the effort to make a difference. By looking at the estimated averages one can comprehend that the expenditure to accomplish this is quite extensive and by creating the Fuel and Maintenance Fund we hope to realize some support in lightening the financial burden.
All contributions are welcome, however small it does make a difference in the end.
Contributions can be made from the website and secure payment arrangements are in place.
