Secured Debt Consolidation Loans – How To Get Approved

The average person juggles numerous bills each month–credit cards, auto loans, personal loans and more! If you’re getting buried beneath paperwork, you may want to consider a debt consolidation loan. Instead of dealing with multiple creditors, you’ll only have to pay one bill each month. And you can get a debt consolidation loan–even if your credit is not-so-perfect–if you secure it with some type of collateral. Here’s how to get approved:

1. Decide on your collateral

Whatever item you choose as collateral for your loan should be one you’re willing to risk, since the lender could take it if you can’t make your monthly payments. One of the least expensive options would be your home, since you could get a home equity loan, a home equity line of credit or a second mortgage. If you’re not willing to risk your house, you could also use an automobile or a boat. Some lenders will accept stocks or bonds, or even expensive belongings such as jewelry or electronics.

2. Find a lender

You’ll need to find a lender that accepts the type of collateral you’re using to secure your loan. Most major lenders and banks offer home equity loans, and many offer personal loans secured with a vehicle or boat. You may have to dig a little deeper to find a lender that will accept jewelry or other belongings as collateral. Check with your local banks and credit unions, and do a search online to find an appropriate lender.

3. Compare loan rates and terms

Before you sign up with any lender, make sure you compare their rates and terms with similar loans. Some unscrupulous predatory lenders may try to take advantage of your situation by charging you a high interest rate or extra fees. It’s always best to compare at least two loans to ensure that you’re getting the best possible rate.

Secured Debt Consolidation Loans are possible even for those with less-than-perfect credit. By using an expensive item you already own–house, car, boat, jewelry–as collateral, you become less risky as a borrower, making it more likely that you’ll get approved for a loan.

Eliminate Credit Card Debt Without Debt Counseling

Unemployment rates are rising, home foreclosures are at record highs and personal debt levels are at an all time high. Unable to deal with all of these financial pressures, many people are looking for ways to eliminate their credit card debt. But before you contact a debt counselor, read this article. You can completely eliminate credit card debt and this article will show you how.

Before you consider debt counseling as a solution to your credit card problems, you need to look at a couple of other options: debt consolidation, debt elimination programs.

Debt Counseling

Before I go into your alternatives to debt counseling, let’s quickly identify who can benefit from it. Debt counseling works for only a small percentage of people. To find out if it can help you, ask yourself the following questions:

Is my situation a result of lack of self control? Is my situation a result of bad spending habits? Is my situation a result of heavy spending on my “wants” rather than spending on my “needs?”

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, than debt counseling might work for you. However, if your situation is a result of unexpected costs (medical bills, unemployment, etc) and not a result of lack of self control, than counseling will be a waste of your money and time. Let’s look at your alternatives.

Debt Consolidation

If you are considering debt counseling to help eliminate your credit card debts, then you’ve probably already considered a debt consolidation program. While not the best way to eliminate your credit card debt, these systems are worth considering.

Debt consolidation is simply a way of grouping all of your current debts (credit cards, car loans, mortgages, etc) into one, single loan. The best way to do this is through a home equity mortgage with a low rate. The big problem with these programs is that in this economy mortgage requirements are becoming stricter and fewer people can qualify for a second mortgage to pay off their debts. If you have only a marginal credit score and a large amount of revolving debt, qualifying for a mortgage may be next to impossible in this economy.

In addition, while these systems may lower your rates and payments making it easier to pay off your debts over the long term, your total debt amount remains the same. This is one of the many reasons I recommend a debt elimination program instead of a debt consolidation system. I have explained the debt elimination systems below.

Debt Elimination Systems

The most effective way to eliminate credit card debt without debt counseling is with a debt elimination system. Rather than rolling your obligations into one loan, these programs actually erases the amount you owe to your creditors.

These systems are available to anyone with credit card debt. You don’t need to qualify as you do with debt consolidation programs. In fact, most of my clients are able to erase 70%-90% of their credit card balances by using one of the programs I recommend.

I hope this article has convinced you that you can eliminate credit card debt without debt counseling. Using one of the systems I’ve reviewed for my clients, you can save your credit and get completely out of credit card debt.

You can do it!

Debt Problems and Debt Management

Most of the time people will find themselves drowning in a sea of debt and have no idea how they managed to get themselves into so much trouble. It happened much like wading into a real ocean does.

First, you are standing on a nice warm sandy shore enjoying the sunshine and the breeze. You dip a toe into the ocean and it feels really nice. You begin wading out and you are surrounded by things you have always wanted. You just keep getting deeper and deeper until you are in way over your head and you cant see a nice dry (debt-free) shore anywhere in sight.

People very rarely just suddenly get into deep financial and debt problems….it happens one credit card at a time. The first credit card might be an oil company credit card. The next one is usually a store credit card. Then you get the major bank credit cards. It is just so easy to get all of the stuff that you want and need using credit cards and making the minimum payments that are required is just no problem at all.

Before you know it, you are using these credit cards to make your car payments and your mortgage payments, maybe even to buy the weekly supply of groceries. You find yourself drowning in debt. It isnt a fun place to be, for sure.

You can get credit counseling, and you can get a debt consolidation loan or even a second mortgage. But you are really going to get out of debt the very same way you got into debt…one step at a time. The closer you get to the shoreline, the easier it will become to free yourself of overburdening debt. And next time, you won’t get too far from shore.
